Easy Exercise with Dog Brain Games
Wet Weather Blues
I stuck my head out the door this morning and quickly brought it back in. I love winter, but I’m not a fan of soggy dogs. While walks can’t be avoided for dogs and their owners there are plenty of ways we can keep beloved pets entertained when it’s particularly bad out there.
Dog Brain Games
If you visit our Toy Library, you will see a variety of toys you can buy designed to use our dogs brains, and in turn tire them out and build their confidence. These toys can be pretty expensive but with a bit of imagination you can create some fun brain games from bits and pieces you have lying around the house.
Today its fun with a few old toilet rolls. I’m not sure how I go through so many but I had plenty to get me started this morning…
Recipe
- Old toilet roll innards
- Pieces of kitchen roll or newspaper
- A high value treat (I used cheese and liver cake)
- A dog
- A Hoover to clean up the ‘evidence’ afterwards.
Putting this together is really quite straight forward. Just wrap a treat in a piece of kitchen roll and stuff your toilet roll innards then let your dog loose.
You can make this game quite easy to start with and have the paper hanging out of the end. As your dogs get the hang of it make it a bit harder by pushing the paper right into the tube.
As with all games it is important to supervise your dog. If you think they may eat the paper or loo roll you may want to try out some of the other dog brain games on my blog such as 12 balls and a Yorkshire pudding tray.
